About Us

Musikahan started in 1988 as Tagum City's annual cultural festival under the leadership of the Honorable Mayor Rey T. Uy. What truly differentiates it from other festivals is the fact that Music is its central theme. Musikahan celebrates the best of the Filipino's talent, skill and excellence in all facets of music. Be it in composition, performance or production. As the festival continues to gain record visitors and popularity each year, there should be no doubt why Tagum City is now dubbed as the Music Capital of the South.

Unknown to many, the Musikahan carries an equally noble aim. That of which is to provide underprivileged youth a free training in the field of music via RTU Musical Instrument Workshop. Through the workshop's enhancement of music skills, the underprivileged youth might have a brighter future and a chance for gainful employment in the music industry. To date, there are more than 2,500 graduates of the year-long music workshops and many of whom actually perform their musical abilities during the Musikahan Festival as RTU Music Makers.
