Mabuhey mga kafatid!

Mabuhey mga Kafatid!

Centuries ago, mockery and discrimination has been the call of the day for the gays. We tend to hide ourselves from the truth that we belong to the so called third sex. It may not exist in the books and theories, but, reality tells us that we are beyond the norms and dictates of the society.
Little did we know that our tribe will increase enormously even if most of us will never have children of our own or at the most, discount the possibilities.  As we pass the test of time, some of us have now come out in the open, unafraid to be ostracized by the community whom we regard as our home. But now,  most if not all, have been successful in their chosen career, be it in fashion, cinema, theater, community outreach, volunteerism. In whatever field, you will find someone like us.

Past Decades,  gay festivals only exist in gay pageants and benefit dances. This short term activity caters only to temporary entertainment. Just for kicks. For fun. There is no vision, rather, a mockery on limitless imagination of things we wanted to be but will never have.

Binuhat festival came at the right time, at the right place. An answer to our desire.  A dream come true. Di ba bonggacios! What a coincidence. Our festival also starts with a B just like bayot, bakla, bading, simply beautiful! When our City Tourism Council Chairperson Ms. Alma L. Uy told me of her intentions to come up with a gay festival, Binuhat was the first thing that came to my mind.

Let us all converge in the music capital of the Philippines and the City of Festivals, Tagum City. Enjoy every moment. Let’s be merry and gay. Life indeed, is something to look forward to and cherish it dearly. Like life, gays give color, vigor, drive, energy and enthusiasm. Truly shimmering and splendid, even for a day.
