Pahinungod (Opening Ceremonies)
The Festival Opening Ceremonies start with an Ecumenical Service represented by four religious faiths – an IP Shaman, Moro Imam, Christian Pastor and a Catholic Priest. The opening ceremonies also feature the 2009 Musikahan Festival Winners and the Lighting of the Musikahan 2010 Symbols and Landmarks.

Rondal-Awit
Spend an enchanting afternoon listening to string ensembles coupled with exquisite solo vocal performances from different musical groups in the country.

Musical Theater
Musikahan presents a full-length original musical theater production showcasing the creativity of Mindanao artists - creators, performers and production teams.

Raprapan
An up-beat competition among Mindanao-based performing artists and finalists in various categories : rap, vocal performance, and musical instrument acuity (to include acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, drums, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, among others).

The finalists are classified into two categories:
Junior (up to 15 years old) and Senior (16 years and above).

Barangay Musikahan: Filipino Goes Latino
A grassroots, people oriented, and community-centered event in the barangays that showcase the creativity and talents of its local residents, celebrating the spirit of the Musikahan Sa Tagum on a community level and fostering wholesome recreation for folks and visitors to the barangays.

Biyaheng Musikahan (Music Television Video)
An original song writing and 10-minute music video competition featuring local tourism destinations in the barangay, municipality, city and/or province.

It is classified into two categories: Tagum City Open for amateur creative artists based in Tagum and the National Open for professional musical artists or video producers.

Himig Handog (National Choral Competition)
A national choral competition participated in by various singing groups. The categories include: Children (6-12 years old), Youth (13-16 years old), College (17 years old and above) and LGU/Church Based (20 years old and above). Each group shall perform two musical pieces: a choral piece of their own choice and a prescribed contest piece provided by the Music Division of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Awitan-Apatan (National Quartet Competition)
A grand competition participated in by some of the best vocal quartets in the country.

Pasiklaban (Battle of the Band Competition)
An electrifying contest featuring some of Mindanao’s best bands in a variety of music genres: Folk, Acoustic, Bossa, EMO, SKA, Reggae, Alternative, Rock, PopRock, Ethno Music or World Fusion.

Kasikas Sa Dalan (National Drum and Bugle/Lyre Competition)
A street exhibition featuring synchronized and colorful dances with the rhythmic accompaniment of drums, bugles and lyres from various participating groups.

Avenida Musika (National Brass Band Competition)
A competition among various school-based or composite community-based marching brass bands. They perform in 3 areas and categories: Marching Band in a street parade, Symphonic Pieces in specified stations and Band Showdown at the open grounds of the new Tagum City Hall.

72 Hour Musical Performance (Music Artists’ Summit)
A gathering of music artists from different musical genres who will be discussing musical arts development programs and plans, sharing experiences and presenting their diverse musical talents to the public in a 72-hour musical performance.

Pahalipay (Musikahan 2010 Outreach Performances)
A special feature of the music festival where select Musikahan competing artists perform in various locales and audiences in the city:

  • Music and Wellness at the five (5) major hospitals in the city.
  • Music in Malls at the different malls in Tagum.
  • Music in Terminals at the city’s inland transport area.
  • Music in Markets at the city’s public market.
  • Music in Corrections.
  • Music in Golden Memories.

The Celso Espejo Rondalla Concert
A concert featuring the Celso Espejo Rondalla who will perform their signature masterpieces. They are an internationally acclaimed rondalla and one of the best musical companies of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra Concert with the
RTU Music Makers

A command performance by the country’s leading and most celebrated orchestra, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO). The PPO will be accompanied by core group members of the RTU Music Makers as they perform songs of different genres. The PPO, also widely regarded as one of the top musical ensembles in the Asia-Pacific region, has performed with many of the world’s renowned conductors.

Pagpupugay (Closing Ceremonies)
The highlight of the Musikahan Festival is the Festival Grand Finale Night. It features a 2-hour musical concert officially closing the festival. It likewise, gives accolade to all musicians and artists and serves as a fitting tribute to Filipino excellence in the field of music.
