3rd eARThfest SUMMER WORKSHOP FESTIVAL 2011

April 13 – May 7, 2011, Tagum City, Davao del Norte, Philippines
As of March 30, 2011

Presented by: City of Tagum Tourism Council, City Government of Tagum in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Department of Environment and Natural Resources XI, DANECO, Tagum Water District and the Kalinawa Arts Foundation.

In celebration of Earth Day, the City Tourism Office in collaboration with the City Tourism Council and local artists is offering series of workshops to commence this year’s summer - whole month of April.  This year’s workshops focused on visual arts, performing arts, and voice lesson which primarily cater youth and children.

These series of workshops is design to create excitement and enthusiasm in teaching and encouraging especially our youth and children to be more educated on becoming environmentally aware and “becoming more green” will not really change people’s habits but make a significant difference in reducing destruction to nature.

More so, these workshops will be an avenue where we can teach our children on disaster preparedness and climate change mitigation and adoption through the arts.

Thus, we propose a full Earth Month program where people practice a 30-day green behavior modification program by attending these workshops and learn to plant trees, recycle, reduce paper usage, car pool, and love the earth as it’s the only place where humanity lives.

OBJECTIVES

  • To be able to educate the youth and children to partake in taking care mother earth;
  • To be able to incorporate awareness on disaster preparedness and climate change mitigation and adoption through arts; and
  • To be able to come up one stage production and recital at the end of the workshops series

IMPLEMENTATION METHODOLOGY
This Earthfest shall be implemented through series of workshops in music, dance and visual arts as an element of advocacy for the care of our Mother Earth.  Each workshop is given at least four to six days duration.  At the end of the workshops, a one day presentation and exhibition of their output is also highlighted to showcase their learning and with the theme of taking care of mother earth.
