KASIKAS SA DALAN
(National Drum and Bugle/Lyre Competition)

A street performance of synchronized and colorful dance exhibition to the melodic tunes of drums, bugles and lyres performed in the streets and parks by the participating DBC groups in the Philippines.

OFFICIAL GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS:

1. Kasikas Sa Dalan is a drum, bugle and lyre competition cum street performance open only to all elementary public and private drum and bugle/lyre groups in the Philippines. Pistonized bugles are not allowed.
2. The group shall compose of the following participants:
 
2.1 60 to 80 members to compose the instrumentalists/musical players
2.2 30 to 40 members to compose the majorettes/flag bearers/movers
3. The time allotment given to each entry for presentation shall be a minimum of ten (10) minutes and a maximum of fifteen (15) minutes to include the entrance and the exit. Two (2) points shall be deducted from each judge score sheet for every minute in excess. Putting up and pull-outing of props is not included in the specified time allotment. However, participating teams are advised to make it fast.
4. All performers shall be duly briefed as to where the agreed-upon indicating marks or signs shall be placed to guide them in the preparation and shall serve as warning in consideration of the performance time allotted. The signs shall be as follows: Green Flag – Start; Yellow Flag – Last 5 Minutes Warning and Red Flag – TIME IS UP/STOP. Consumed time of the participants shall be announced every after performance.
5. Costumes of the participants must be modest and in decent form.
6. The official criteria for judging set on this competition are the following:

7. There are two (2) sets of judges assigned by the Execom. One set for the Deportment (Judge from the start of the program up to the end of the last performer), and another set responsible for the showdown proper. These Official Judges that refers to the Second Set (showdown proper) are well known for their achievement and stature in the field of music and performing arts preferably coming from outside of Davao Region or have gained a National Stature. Their decision shall base on the results of the competition and shall be final and irrevocable.

9. The competition date shall be on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 3:00 o' clock in the afternoon at the City Hall Ground, JV Ayala Avenue, Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
10. Deadline for the submission of entries, waiver forms, parent consent (all members) shall be on February 5, 2010 until 5PM only.
11. Online registration can be made through wwww.musikahansatagum.com. Interested participants may also download application forms from www.musikahansatagum.com and send it to Musikahan sa Tagum secretariat by surface mail or email (tagumcity_tourism@yahoo.com) or hand carry the filled up forms to the City Tourism Office at Beach Volleydrome, Rotary Park, Pioneer Avenue, Tagum City.
12. Official briefing will be at the Basketball Gym, Rotary Park, Tagum City, Philippines.
