Musikahan Sa Tagum’s HIMIG HANDOG Choral Competition

A choral competition and concert-series participated by the best school or community based choirs from all over the country and from some parts of the world, showcasing their mastery of the craft and aspiring for international standards of excellence in performance with the end view of proving that indeed --- “music, as a universal language, can be an effective instrument for global solidarity and harmonious co-existence of peoples from diverse cultures”. The Musical Event is comprised of two levels of performance, as follows:

a) HIMIG HANDOG Open Competition
Designed as the first level to showcase the Choir’s proven prowess as well as their mastery in harmony and confidence in delivery, this competition will be carried out in 3 categories and open to all amateur choirs from all over the country. This event offers an opportunity for them to be part of a prestigious event that employs an international standard of evaluating their levels of excellence – no matter whether the group is experienced or whether they have never before performed on an international stage. The competition requires the performance of two choral pieces --- a compulsory piece (provided by the organizers) and a sidepiece in any music genre chosen by each of the competing groups.

A body of five (5) international adjudicators who applies a renowned evaluation system shall evaluate the Choral performances. The declared best Choirs will be awarded a bronze, silver or gold diploma and other prizes. Those who achieve highest score will be entitled to participate directly into the next level, which is the Musikahan sa Tagum’s Choral Champions Competition!

b) MUSIKAHAN SA TAGUM’S CHORAL CHAMPION’S Competition
The next level of Choral Competition is the honors-class competition designed for those who have been Grand Winners in previous Musikahan Sa Tagum Himig-Handog Competitions (2006 to 2011) and for those who already gained international competition experience - who either participated and won or have gained high ranking in an international choral competition before. This is also open for the officially invited Choirs from other countries.

A panel of seven (7) international adjudicators shall judge the Champions’ performances and the best competing choirs will be awarded  with either a “Gold Nomination” or a “Platinum Nomination”. The Choir with the highest number of nominations for each four categories shall be declared as the Musikahan sa Tagum 2012 Himig-Handog Grand Prize Winner.

Thus the 2012 Musikahan Grand Prize Challenge: join the best among the amateur or champion in the world and showcase your musical and artistic skills in 4 choir music categories or musical genre and take home the Grand Prize of Two Hundred Thousand Pesos  (P200, 000.00) in cash.
