BIYAHENG MUSIKAHAN – NATIONAL MUSIC VIDEO COMPETITION

An original song writing competition and music video creation focusing on tourism, culture and arts and its relevance to the country’s musical identity.

OFFICIAL GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS:

1. The competition is open to all amateur individuals or groups in the country.
2. There are two (2) categories for the Byaheng Musikahan Competition:
  2.1 All Tagum Amateur Category - Theme: “Ciudad Sa Tagum”
2.2 National Open Category - Theme: “Buhay Pinoy”
3. Official Date of the Competition will be on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 7PM at the Trade Center Pavilion, Tagum City, Philippines.
4. The entry shall submit a DVD Disc of their music video production.
5. The featured song should be an original composition, the lyrics and arrangements should be in lined with the given themes.
6. The music video entries have not been entered into any local and foreign music video competitions. All contestants are responsible for ensuring htat their music and video are compliant with the legal and copyright laws. The first option for publishing/production will be held by the sponsor of this competition, the City of Tagum Tourism Council(CTTC) for further projects unless stated otherwise by the CTTC, or if no further projects are made available by the CTTC for a specific period of time after the competition.
7. All music video productions must comprise only original images and fop\otages have not been used in previous MTV productions. The content and image used should qualify for general patronage.
8. The final DVD copy and all other requirements of the music video production should be submitted to the Event Secretariat on or before February 15, 2010.
9. The directors of those who placed in the past two (2) years of the MTV competitions are only allowed to participate in the open category.
10. Only one entry per director is allowed in the competition.
11. All music videos recorded as well as their rehearsed live performance should not exceed in 8 minutes.

13. The MTV entries and the Live Performance are judge separately according to the following official criteria for judging:

  • Unique character of place effectively captured and presented
  • Content and development of the narrative (faithfulness to the theme)
  • Singularity of thematic attack
Music Composition 30%
  • Lyrics
  • Rhythmic Organization (melody)
  • Vocal Arrangement and instrumentation (correct rhythms, appropriate tempo & phrasing, exceptional projection of musical style and character)
Creative Video Treatment 30%
  • Quality of the audio-visual language and imagery
  • Quality and singularity in editing treatment and creative attack
  • Over-all production values: scenery, lights, sounds and integration
Commercial and Popular Appeal 10%

  *All entries regardless of category joined will be judged for the best composition award.
15. A set of judges shall be assigned by the Execom. These Official Judges are well known for their achievement and stature in the field of music and performing arts preferably coming from outside of Davao Region or have gained a National Stature. Their decision shall base on the results of the competition and shall be final and irrevocable.
16. Deadline for the submission of entries shall be announced. Online registration can also be made through wwww.musikahansatagum.com. Interested participants may also download application forms from www.musikahansatagum.com and send it to Musikahan sa Tagum secretariat by surface mail or email (tagumcity_tourism@yahoo.com) or hand carry the filled up forms to the City Tourism Office at Beach Volleydrome, Rotary Park, Pioneer Avenue, Tagum City.
17. Official briefing will be at the Basketball Gym, Rotary Park, Tagum City, Philippines.
