BIYAHENG MUSIKAHAN (MUSIC VIDEO COMPETITION)
An competition of music video creation competition interpreting an original Filipino Song composition, focused on tourism, culture and arts and its relevance to the country’s cultural identity and sustainable development
- DATE OF COMPETITION: February 11, 2011, 7:30PM
- GENERAL RULES
- The competition is open to all individual artists or creative groups in the country.
- The content and production values of this year’s competition should correspond to the festival’s theme – “Iisang Himig, Pandaigdigang Pagkakaysa” (One World, One Music).
- The Artistic or Creative Director of the MTV is only allowed to submit a single entry.
- MECHANICS
- Only original music composition or song can be featured in the MTV, the lyrics and arrangements of which should interpret the Festival Theme. The song can be written or composed by any Filipino songwriter and in any Filipino languages/dialects. However an English translation of song written in any regional language or in Filipino is required to be submitted to the Festival Secretariat.
- Biyaheng Musikahan only accepts entries of original music videos that are never entered into any local and/or foreign music video competitions.
- All contestants are responsible for ensuring that their creative works (music and videos) comply with the legal and copyright laws pertinent to intellectual property rights.
- Once a Music-Video has been qualified to compete, the creators of that particular music video grants the City of Tagum Tourism Council (CTTC) the legal rights to publish and or reproduce the said Music-Video production. All competing creators of the music videos are required to sign a deed of assignment to the CTCC for publication or reproduction purposes only.
- All music video productions must comprise of only original images (still or moving) as captured in the video footages. These images or footages should have not been used in any previous MTV productions. The creators likewise ensure that the overall content and imagery used in the MTV are fit for general audiences.
- The final DVD copy and all other requirements of the music video production should be submitted to the Event Secretariat on or before January 15, 2011.
- All recorded and competing music video outputs must have a running or playback time of at most 8 minutes. In the same manner, the live performance as creative interpretation of the MTV, should not exceed the said time limit.
- During the actual contest, the competing Music Video entries are presented to the public in two performance contexts:
- Straight MTV Presentation; and
- Live Performance as interpretation of the MTV piece
- The “Live Performance” of the Music Video is rendered by the featured singer/s and accompanied by live instrumentation.. The Live Performance is a creative interpretation or rendition of the Music-Video thus dance vignettes and/or theatrical devises are allowed. During the live performance , the Music Video is played on the wide screen serving as backdrop of the live performance. Both the “live performance” and the MTV being played-back, should start and end at the same time (and within the 8-minute maximum time limit).The Straight MTV Presentation will be shown before the Live Performance event and will also be shown throughout the duration of the festival for maximum exposure of the Music Videos(MVs).
- The following requirements must be submitted to the Committee on or before January 15, 2011:
- Completed official registration form- must be submitted to the Secretariat on or before November 29, 2010.
- Demo tape/cd (music only) *
- 2 copies of the Music Video in DVD format
- Music video only
- Music video and other video features as stated below.
- A 10- second and 30-second choice cut of the music-video which will be used for promotional showing;
- An overview of the content of the music video and /or information regarding the band/behind the scenes or production on a single sheet of paper or in a 30-second video. This is an optional feature.
- Music Sheet –Lyrics (& Translation into English when necessary), Notation (if available) and Credits
- One Document, maximum of 3 pages containing the following information:
- EVALUATION
.1 Complete Name and Affiliation of all the member(s) of the production team.
.2 An overview of the content of the MTV
.3 Brief information on or summative resume of the members of the production team
.4 Documentation or list of the hardware, equipment(s) and software program(s) used in the production of the MTV; and
.5 Technical requirements for the show (ie. Band Set-up)
(The organizers however will inform artists if requested technical equipment or gadgets can be provided and thus the competing artists need to bring own equipment)
* Organizers will be negotiating with local Fm stations for advanced airplay of songs.All MTV entries are to be judged separately, according to the following official criteria for evaluation:

A panel comprised of distinguished jurors (from the fields of literature, music, theatre, photography and cinema) is convened to select from among the entries (excluding the 1st, 2nd ad 3rd place winners), six (6) creative works, chosen for their respective artistic merits and standards of excellence, to qualify as Jury’s Choice.

Citation for 6 “Juror’s Choice” winners @ 5,000.00 each
